This Privacy Policy explains how TechDiet collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Last updated: 17 June 2026. Fana Health (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect through TechDiet, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
TechDiet collects health and fitness data to deliver a personalised health companion experience. All health data is treated as sensitive personal information and is protected with the highest security standards. We never sell your health data.
Information We Collect
- Name, email address, and account credentials
- Health and fitness data: height, weight, age, biological sex, fitness goals
- Nutritional data: meal logs, calorie and macro entries, dietary preferences
- Activity and workout data: exercise logs, workout history, step counts
- Natural language inputs used for meal and activity tracking
- Device information: device type, OS version, unique device identifiers
- Location data (coarse, optional): used only to determine load-shedding schedules for your area
- Analytics data: usage patterns, feature interactions, crash reports
How We Use Your Information
Health & Fitness Personalisation
To generate personalised meal plans, workout routines, and nutrition recommendations based on your goals and health data.
Load-Shedding Awareness
To adjust workout and cooking plans dynamically around your local load-shedding schedule, using coarse location data.
Natural Language Processing
To interpret and process natural language inputs for meal and activity logging. Inputs are processed securely and not used to train external AI models.
Progress Tracking
To track your health metrics, display progress analytics, and provide actionable insights over time.
Account Management
To manage your account, authentication, and user preferences.
Security & Fraud Prevention
To detect and address security threats and unauthorised access.
Customer Support
To respond to support requests and resolve issues.
Product Improvements
To analyse aggregated, anonymised usage patterns to improve platform features.
Health Data & Sensitive Information
TechDiet collects health and fitness data categorised as sensitive personal information under POPIA and applicable data protection laws. This data is collected only with your explicit consent, stored with enhanced security measures (AES-256 encryption at rest), and never sold to third parties. Health data is used exclusively to deliver the TechDiet service and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers.

TechDiet does not sell, rent, or trade your personal or health data to any third party.
Service Providers
We may share data with trusted service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics) who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.

Aggregated Analytics
We may share aggregated, anonymised, non-identifiable data for research or product improvement purposes.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your personal and health data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings or by contacting privacy@fanahealth.co.za. Upon deletion, all personal and health data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Children's Privacy
TechDiet is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly. Users between 13 and 18 must have parental or guardian consent to use TechDiet.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational security measures including AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS encryption in transit, secure authentication, role-based access controls, regular security audits, and vulnerability monitoring. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel who require it for legitimate operational purposes.
